After the tour, there was a time-off so I did things likely during a break, which I haven’t done in a long time.

Went to watch LIVE of my acquaintance and great seniors, drank, watched tons of movies,

Listened to tons of music, contacted people that I missed, went to see Gundam even before break, and distressed all day long about buying 64 GB iPod touch or 160 GB iPod classic, and I did a lot of stuff.

Enough about that, but did you guys listen to the single?

How is the sound that has been about a year since the last one? This year we almost became a band that kept releasing DVDs. Well, that’s fine that way too.
------

I began to write songs since the latter half of the break that was after the time-off described above. Until the U.S. tour, we are all gathering and “packing” various things into it (note: song). As of now, I have a feeling of “A good thing is being made~” where we are creating this without any rush.

I don’t know how long it will take until we can make lots of good stuff but hang in there patiently!

So (let’s meet) at Budokan then.

Before that, I guess it’s the end of the year (live).

You know, my body isn’t yearning for it (laughs).

In any ways there was an atmosphere of how we should choose an extreme one.

—As a sound that would be after “UROBOROS,” while this new song brings attention more than ever before, Kaoru-kun, what kind of thing did you want to make?

“Well, I wanted to have a feeling of “UROBOROS” remaining somewhere and that’s about it. Otherwise the process was about what kind of thing will be from me and what things will be from the other members where we would feel them out. As we made the song, it ended up turning out this way. One week before the European tour (in June) we began to make the riff and parts of the song and we put 3~4 songs into shape after we returned to Japan.”

—Among them was “Hageshisato, Kono Mune No Naka Ni Karamitsuita Shakunetsu No Yami”?

“Yes. I just made the main riff quickly and brought it in a condition where the structure was sort of set up. At that point there wasn’t any melody part and I thought everyone could think together whether we should put some kind of melody or not. We took a lot of time since then, but there wasn’t anything to distress over and everything proceeded smoothly.”

—As you are putting the song into shape, was there anything that was an important point?

“(Moment of silence) There was a lot of stuff happening sound-wise, but with the song’s feeling and structure, I thought we should make something that clearly had a “push and pull” and something that remained in your ears. The song was made so that each part easily left an impression. That element didn’t seem to change. I wasn’t thinking this was just for a single, and if someone asked me on how we decided on our singles, I would reply back by saying, “We don’t really know either”.

As always, Dir en grey has continued creating masterpieces that are beyond our expectations with the release of the new single "Hageshisa to, kono mune no naka de karamitsuita shakunetsu no yami"!

--Before I ask about the new single, I want to ask about the Music Clip Collection " AVERAGE BLASPHEMY" that was released in October. As always even on video, it's a music clip collection of Dir en grey which with originality expresses it's unique world-view so this is a creation that is shocking (with great impact). When you saw it again, what are the points to take note of in your opinion?

Die: The director is different for Agitated Screams of Maggots, Clever Sleazoid, and Red Soil. All the other songs were directed for us by the director we have known well for a long time. I think it's very interesting to see the differences in each director that comes out(in the clips).

--Were there any impressions that were left from filming [the videos]?

Die: In CLEVER SLEAZOID there were a real live cockroaches. It's Madagascar Cockroaches from the island of Madagascar. When we were performing they let it creep on-stage, we started stomping around. The cockroaches would start clinging onto(coming after) you right? The feeling was, "Don't come near me~"(Laugh) I hate insects so it was troublesome.(Laugh)

--When I first saw Agitated Screams of Maggots I was surprised. The clip was hand-drawn by the animator Kurosaka Keita so the jacket art of Average Blasphemy was also hand-drawn but why did you offer Kurosaka-san to do it?

Die: It was the same as during the clip we didn't order it from Kurosaka-san. He listened to our song and whatever feeling he got from it, he made it into that creation(masterpiece) for us. And as for this creation, it's the music clips' unifier because I don't think there is a specific image. Which was why, we showed the music clip collection to Kurosaka-san then he gave us an image for the jacket and we thought it was very interesting.
